About the LMS

The London Mathematical Society (LMS) stands as the major learned society for mathematics with a diverse worldwide membership community. Since its establishment in 1865, the аĿª½±has been dedicated to advancing and broadening mathematical knowledge. In recognition of its significant contributions, the Society was honoured with a Royal Charter in 1965.

The аĿª½±plays a pivotal role in the mathematical world through its wide-ranging activities. These include publishing journals and books, awarding grants to foster mathematical research, and hosting scientific meetings and lectures. Beyond this, the Society actively engages in shaping policy and strategy to support the mathematics community. This involves collaborating with government bodies on educational and research matters, participating in global mathematical initiatives, and championing the discipline at every level.
