The аĿª½±and Institute of Mathematics and its Applications are delighted to announce that the 2021 David Crighton Medal is awarded to Professor Caroline Series, of the University of Warwick. This is in recognition of her fundamental and beautiful results connecting geometry and dynamical systems, and her outstanding service to the mathematical community, including her pioneering work to support the careers of women in mathematics.

The London Mathematical Society has elected the following people to Honorary Membership of the Society in 2021:

Professor Peter Sarnak, Institute of Advanced Study, Princeton, USA

Professor Ya-xiang Yuan, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China

The 2021 Ð°Ŀª½±Prize winners were announced at the Society Meeting on Friday 2 July 2021. The аĿª½±extends its congratulations to this year’s prize winners and for their continued contributions to mathematics.

The London Mathematical Society and British Society for the History of Mathematics are delighted to announce that the 2021 Hirst Prize and Lectureship is awarded to Professor Karine Chemla (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique; CNRS), in recognition of her outstanding and innovative work in the history of mathematics. This marks the first year that the Hirst Prize and Lectureship is jointly awarded by the аĿª½±and BSHM.

We are pleased to announce that registration for the conference on the Unity of Mathematics in memory of Sir Michael Atiyah is now open. It will be a hybrid meeting based in the Isaac Newton Institute from Tuesday 21-Thursday 23 September 2021. Funding is available to assist participation, especially for early career researchers.
