Dr Vicky Neale (1984-2023)

It is with immense sadness that the аĿª½±has learned that Vicky Neale recently passed away. Vicky was well known in particular for her work on mathematics education and for her outreach work.

As well as most recently being the Whitehead Lecturer at the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford, she was also the author of two books and a contributor to many television and radio programmes. Having received a diagnosis of a rare form of cancer in 2021, she was inspired to explore how the mathematical sciences research community contributes to cancer research in a series of podcasts called .

Vicky devoted much work and time to the аĿª½±over the years. She was a member of the Education Committee, a Holgate Lecturer, and she gave the аĿª½±Popular Lecture on Addictive Number Theory in 2013. She was also a regular contributor to the аĿª½±Newsletter and a member of the Editorial Board. She was an inspiration to many and will be very much missed.
