The inaugurual meeting of the London Mathematical Society was held on 16 January 1865 at University College London.
Professor Augustus De Morgan FRAS was in the Chair and the meeting was attended by 27 of the first members of the Society.

150 years later and on Friday 16 January 2015, the London Mathematical Society launched the celebrations of its sesquicentennial anniversary at Goldsmith's Hall with Professor Terry Lyons FRS in the Chair.
