аĿª½±Travel Grants to ICMs and ECMs

The London Mathematical Society sets aside funds to be used for making grants to support the attendance of UK-based mathematicians at the European Congresses of Mathematics (held every four years) and the International Congress of Mathematicians (also held every four years) The Society would particularly like to support those mathematicians at an early stage in their career, including postdocs.

9ECM 2024 Travel Grants

Applications for travel grants to attend the 9th European Congress of Mathematics (9ECM) 2024 in Seville, Spain could be submitted via the following schemes:


аĿª½±ECM Travel Grants for Early Career Researchers - Applications now closed; the deadline was 22 February 2024.

Grants of up to Â£500.00&²Ô²ú²õ±è;were available to contribute to the costs of attending the 9ECM, not to meet them entirely. The grants are not to support attendance at Satellite Meetings.

Applicants had to be Early Career Researchers, defined as within five years of PhD completion (excluding career breaks), based at a UK institution. UK-based PhD students whose research would benefit from attending the meeting could also apply but their applications needed to be strongly supported, with a clear mathematical case, by their supervisor. 

 

Applications for the аĿª½±ECM Travel Grants for Early Career Researchers are closed. 
 
Applications were acknowledged by email.
  • Applicants who applied by 22 February 2024 will be informed of the outcome before the end of March 2024.
 
  • Please remember to:
    • make a copy of your application to send to your supervisor/Head of Department,
    • ask your supervisor/Head of Department, or equivalent, to complete the  by 22 February 2024.
You do not need to be an аĿª½±member to apply. 
 
Please note that the аĿª½±Travel Grants do not cover 9ECM registration fees, details of which can be found on the 9ECM website . There are different registration fee levels for students, EMS members and non-EMS members.  If you are not currently an EMS member but are an аĿª½±member then you can join the EMS via your аĿª½±user record when logging in here for £23.00 (€25.00) to cover EMS membership in 2024. Students may be interested in the EMS’ free membership for students. More details about EMS membership is available on the EMS website . To add EMS membership to your аĿª½±membership, go to the "My аĿª½±Membership" and scroll down to "My Subscriptions".

аĿª½±ECM Travel Grants for Established Mathematicians - Applications are now closed. The deadline was 8 January 2024
 
The grants contribute to the costs of UK-based mathematicians attending the 9ECM, which will be held from 15-19 July 2024 in Seville. The grants are not expected to cover all the costs. The grants are not to support attendance at Satellite Meetings.
 
Applicants should be established mid-late career mathematicians, defined as being beyond five years since their PhD completion (excluding career breaks), based at a UK institution.
 
Applications for the аĿª½±ECM Travel Grants for Established Mathematicians are now closed. 
 
Applications were acknowledged by email. Applicants were informed of the outcome in January 2024.
 
You do not need to be an аĿª½±member to apply.
